Industry-consistent browsers, robots and spiders list
Measurement
Guidelines released September 2004 by the Interactive
Advertising Bureau (IAB) require the IAB to manage, distribute and
disseminate a list of valid browsers, known spiders and
robots currently active.
The IAB has enlisted ImServices to work with the IAB Policy
Board to build, maintain and evolve this database on behalf
of the IAB and the industry.
List components include:
- Secure user login for
list access
- Two separate lists, both
valid browsers and known robots, intended to be utilized
in the “double pass” technique as defined in the IAB
Guideline
- Documentation on how to
“read” files programmatically
- Documentation on
methodology of double pass method
- Sample Perl script for
efficiently processing of logs using double pass
technique
