Measurement Accreditation

ImServices Measurement Accreditation
Accreditation of measurement methods is a standard practice in print and broadcast media. Now, interactive media can offer their buyers the same level of confidence and accountability with Measurement Accreditation from ImServices Group (ImServices).

With this service, ImServices certifies that web media transactions -- whether related to site activity, reach and frequency, or ad scheduling and delivery -- are in conformance with industry guidelines set by the industry authorities, such as the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB).

The ImServices' approach to accreditation focuses on examining a client’s processes for delivery and reporting of content or advertising, instead of relying exclusively on off-site review of data generated by these processes. This process-focused approach has several advantages. With a thorough knowledge of the systems in place that produce the data used to create standard reports, ImServices can provide a client with valuable insight into how to comply with industry standards and, if necessary, improve existing practices. In addition, it is more efficient and less intrusive for the client.

At the beginning of an engagement, ImServices performs an initial review of a client’s manual and automated processes to completely understand the technology employed to provide web content and advertising to site visitors, and how this activity is measured. The review includes a careful evaluation of the internal controls that ensure appropriate delivery of web media, detection of error conditions and any required corrective. Based on the internal control environment, a risk assessment is conducted to identify any opportunities for errors or omissions. Following the risk assessment, tests are performed to verify the effectiveness of current controls.

Deliverables
After the initial review, the client receives a draft report, outlining any areas where improvements could/should be made. Once any required adjustments are made and the review process confirms that the client’s measurement system conforms to IAB1 guidelines, ImServices provides a formal accreditation document attesting to compliance.

Although the accreditation is effective as of a particular point in time, there are steps that can be taken to maintain accreditation without incurring the costs involved with the initial audit. The specific steps required vary depending on the results of the initial audit.
